Not everyone has ten days. This route takes the two parks closest to Arusha (Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater) and does both properly inside four days, which is the shortest a real safari can honestly be.

It works well before or after a week on Zanzibar, and it is the trip we most often build for people breaking a long-haul journey.

The itinerary

Arrive and settle in. Evening briefing.

Overnight: Lodge in Arusha Meals: D

Two hours south after breakfast and a full day in the park. Elephant along the river, baobabs, and the best birding on the circuit.

Overnight: Lodge near Tarangire Meals: B, L, D

A slow morning in Tarangire, then west through Mto wa Mbu and up onto the Ngorongoro rim in the afternoon. Sunset over the crater from the lodge.

Overnight: Lodge on the crater rim Meals: B, L, D

Down at first light with a packed breakfast, a morning on the floor, then up and back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International in the afternoon.

Common questions

For these two parks, yes. It is not enough to include the Serengeti. That needs three more days minimum, and anyone offering the Serengeti inside four days is selling you a day and a half in a vehicle.

Easily. Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar is a short flight and we will arrange it with the rest of the booking.
